Missouri Confederate POW Graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery
The following is a compilation of names of Missouri Confederate soldiers,
Confederate citizens of the State, and other pro-southern political prisoners
that are buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, having died under
the inhumane conditions in the Federal prisons in St. Louis, Missouri. The
location of the grave is designated by the initials "JBNC" followed by
grave number. See the associated note for those prisoners who are listed without

NOTE 1: Reported as having died at St. Louis or
Jefferson Barracks, and in some instances listed on the burial registers for
Wesleyan and Christ Church Cemeteries, but not indicated on the register at
Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. (All known remains of POWs were
subsequently removed from Wesleyan and Christ Church Cemetaries to Jefferson
Barracks). Grave was not listed in present day Wesleyan Cemetery. It is assumed
the remains was taken by friends before the government ordered the removal of
the remains of prisoners of war to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. [To
